How to record a lecture and turn it into study notes
Capture lecture speech in your browser, check the transcript, then generate notes and recall questions.
Prepare your microphone
Allow microphone access and check the input meter. Start with a brief sample from the actual seating position. A loud room speaker does not guarantee a clear signal at your microphone.
Choose a capture mode
Local speech downloads a model and transcribes on this device. Optional OpenAI transcription sends captured segments to the provider. Browser dictation uses the browser’s speech implementation. Only local/API capture supports the optional saved-audio receipts.
Keep the session open
Keep the tab active and wait for pending segments to finish before changing lessons. If the queue stalls, pause and use Retry pending speech. Do not discard pending audio unless you accept losing those unprocessed words.
Make useful notes
Correct names, units and equations. Generate notes, then open source receipts for important definitions. Give the session a subject so you can search it alongside your other lessons.
